To protect, restore and develop Blue Hole Regional Park as a recreational, educational, and ecological resource for present and future generations.
Overview
Blue Hole Regional Park is nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, near the charming town of Wimberley. The park is characterized by the iconic Blue Hole, a stunning natural swimming area fed by the crystal-clear waters of Cypress Creek. The water’s distinct blue hue, combined with the lush surroundings, creates a serene and inviting atmosphere.
Visitors to Blue Hole Regional Park can enjoy a range of outdoor activities. The park features well-maintained hiking trails, bike paths, and scenic areas for picnics. The recreational amenities cater to various interests, including sports fields for athletic activities, playgrounds for families, and open spaces for relaxation.
Reservations are required for the swim area only, during swim season. All other recreational areas including our hiking trails, playground, and picnic areas are free, open to the public, and do not require reservations. Swim season is May 1st through Labor Day, as well as weekends in September.

Blue Hole Regional Park is open from 8 a.m. to Sunset every day of the week.
Swimming time slots are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 1st through Labor Day, and weekends in September.Closed during Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Blue Hole Regional Park is home to a natural, spring-fed swimming hole lined with the iconic Cypress Trees located deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The whole family will enjoy swimming in crystal clear water, sunbathing on the grassy swim lawn, and of course, swinging on our famous rope swings!
Reservations are required for the swim area only, during swim season. Swim season is May 1st through Labor Day, as well as weekends in September. All other recreational areas including our hiking trails, playground, and picnic areas are free, open to the public, and do not require reservations.

Prohibited Behaviors:
- Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages.
- Smoking in the park or parking lot.
- Use of foul language and lewd behavior.
- Use of drugs and/or weapons.
- Disorderly conduct.
- Fishing.
- Soliciting.
- Use of drones or other flying devices.
- Use of fires, stoves, or cooking of any kind except in designated grill locations.
- Feeding wildlife, including waterfowl.
- No garbage or other solid waste may be dumped or littered in the park.
- Garbage associated with park use must be deposited in containers provided.
- Pets (of any nature) are not allowed in the swim lawn area. They are allowed in all other areas of the park.
Any violation of park rules may result in immediate removal from the park.
The City of Wimberley is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.

- The American Society of Landscape Architects presented Blue Hole regional Park with the Honor Award for the Texas Chapter in 2011 in recognition for outstanding professional achievement.
- The Texas Municipal League (TML) has presented the City of Wimberley with the 2012 Municipal Excellence Award for Public Works for cities of less than 25,000 population. The award recognizes the City for the unique design and development of the Blue Hole Regional Park.
- In 2014, Jane Allison was awarded the Outstanding Part-Time Employee Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society.
- The Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals (S.O.R.P) presented Blue Hole Regional Park with the 2015 Project Excellence Award: “In recognition of the collaborative efforts to preserve the pristine waters, lime-stone bluffs, and towering age-old Cypress trees of Wimberley’s historic spring-fed Blue Hole and creation of Blue Hole Regional Park.” Project partners include Design Workshop, Inc. and the City of Wimberley, Texas.
- In 2016, our Blue Hole Nature Camp program received the Lone Star Recreation Programming Achievement Award from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society.
- USA Today named Blue Hole Regional Park as one of the top 10 swimming holes in the nation in 2018.
- In 2018, Blue Hole received recognition as the Austin Green Awards; Project of the Year.
