Blue Hole Nature Camp is a weekly day camp program that the City of Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department provides to the nature-conscious youth of the community. Our mission is to get kids out in nature and experience the Texas Hill Country in new and unique ways!
Campers will learn camping skills, explore native Texas wildlife and their habitats, local flora and fauna, conserving our natural resources, and of course traditional camp games like archery and team-building activities!

Registration opens February 1st. When enrolling for a week of camp, simply select the first day of that week, and by doing so, you’ll automatically be registered for the entire week. No need to sign up for each individual day – one click on the first day secures your spot for the entire week.

Foxes, Coyotes, and Deer OH MY! Join us this week as we step into the animal kingdom and learn about the wonderous animals of the Texas Hill Country. Campers will learn how to identify an animal based on their skull, interact with model animal skulls, and dive deep into the connections between animals! Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
Young adults (ages 13-15) who have completed 6th grade and are ready to take a leadership role are encouraged to apply for the Counselor in Training (CIT) program. For a discounted cost of $75 per week, CITs work alongside camp counselors where they play games, hike, lead environmental lessons, and more. The CIT program runs for 10 weeks during the summer at Blue Hole Nature Camps. CITs can choose which weeks they would like to participate. Availability is limited. Preference is given to returning CITS, then a first come-first served basis.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: CITs Assist the Camp Specialists and Counselors in coordinating and organizing recreational activities for youth ages 6-12.
DUTIES: Assist youth in arts and crafts, games, sports, and outdoor activities. Help ensure the safety of program participants at all times. Assist in maintaining the organization of the site by completing tasks assigned. Follow instructions efficiently and effectively, requiring minimal guidance while completing assigned duties. Take the initiative to assist site staff in daily duties. Maintain a thorough knowledge of all policies and procedures; make sure policies and procedures are followed at all times. Assist in the supervision of youth while on excursions in the park. Maintain a positive environment for program participants. Strive to be a role model for program participants. Perform other duties as assigned. If we feel you are not performing up to expectations, we reserve the right to dismiss you with a full refund.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works primarily in an outdoor park facility, outdoors, in varying types of weather, and locations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: CITs must have a desire to work with youth and to interact in a positive manner with all ages and backgrounds of children. This position requires a desire to develop leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills. CITs must have the ability to motivate themselves, peers, and youth in an enthusiastic manner. CITs must be reliable, honest, creative, and willing to follow through on all assigned tasks. Must be able to work Monday through Friday of all assigned weeks.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must be between 13-15 years of age. Experience working with youth in areas such as baby-sitting, scouts, church groups, sports, or any other volunteer work is preferred. Qualified applicants must possess a clean and professional appearance and attitude and be comfortable working with the public.

Once you are accepted into the Level Up program, you will register your participant(s) and pay the $50 deposit. Wimberley Good Neighbor will take care of the rest, it’s that simple! - Cancellations must be received in writing.
- The cancellation policy is based on when we receive written notification.
$50 deposit is non-refundable. - More than 30 days before the first day of camp – Full refund except non-refundable deposit.
- 7-30 days before the first day of camp- $25 cancellation fee.
- Less than 7 days before the first day of camp- No refund.
- Medical cancellations- A Full refund will be given when doctor’s verification is presented prior to the start of camp.
- Full payment is due two weeks before the start of each camp session. If payment is not collected, your registration is subject to removal from camp without refund.
- No refunds will be administered due to weather conditions.
- Camp deposit is not transferable to different weeks and/or campers.
- If your camper will miss one or more days within the week, the City does not pro-rate the camp fee; nor will you get a refund for the days your camper missed.
- If the City decides to cancel camp due to extenuating circumstances including COVID-19 exposure full refunds will be issued.
