Wimberley Parks & Rec Stands with the Texas Camp Community

Untitled design (9)

As recent flooding has impacted many parts of Central Texas, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the heartbreaking losses felt by so many of our neighbors across the region, including members of our extended camp community. While Wimberley was fortunate to be spared from the floods, we know the impacts still hit close to home.  Many in our community have ties to the affected areas, and our thoughts are with those navigating loss or uncertainty, both nearby and across Texas. We stand with our neighbors and camp families during this difficult time.

In a gesture of solidarity, we are displaying green ribbons at both of our camps throughout the rest of the camp season, honoring Camp Mystic and all those impacted by the floods. We encourage others to join us by displaying green ribbons as a quiet act of remembrance and hope.

With the second half of our camp season now underway, we remain grateful to be able to provide a joyful and grounding experience during a time when connection and consistency matter most. As summer programming continues, safety remains a top priority. We are monitoring weather conditions, taking precautions, and making sure campers and staff feel safe, supported, and cared for.

Natural disasters, even from a distance, can bring up big feelings. Whether your loved ones were directly impacted or simply feeling the emotional weight of recent events, please know you’re not alone. Below are resources that may be helpful in the days and weeks ahead:

We’re honored to be a place where people of all ages can come to play, explore, and connect, and we’ll keep doing our part to be a steady presence for this community we love so much.

With care and gratitude,
The Wimberley Parks & Recreation Team
