Make Your First Resolution with Polar Bear Plunge & 5k

Wimberley Parks and Recreation is so excited to kick off the new year with an adventure like no other at Blue Hole Regional Park’s annual Polar Bear Plunge & 5K! On Saturday, January 4th, join us for a day filled with excitement, energy, and community spirit as we celebrate the start of 2025. Whether you’re lacing up your running shoes, taking the plunge into the icy waters of Cypress Creek, or simply cheering on participants, this event is the perfect way to make unforgettable memories and embrace the thrill of a new beginning.

 

Event Schedule 

  • 9:00 AM: Event Check-In – Pick up your swag bag and get ready for the fun ahead.
  • 9:30 AM: Stretching & Warmup – Join us for a group stretch to loosen up before the run.
  • 10:00 AM: 5K Begins – Lace up and hit the scenic route through Wimberley.
  • 11:30 AM: 5K Ends & Awards Ceremony – Celebrate the runners’ achievements with prizes and recognition.
  • 1:00 PM: Polar Bear Plunge Ends – Wrap up the day with a final icy splash!

 

The 5K route is truly one-of-a-kind, starting at the beautiful Blue Hole Regional Park and winding through the charming streets of Wimberley. The grand finale? A refreshing (and exhilarating!) plunge into the crisp waters of Cypress Creek. Afterward, warm up by the fire pit, grab a bite from local food vendors, and enjoy games and prizes to keep the festivities going.

 

Registration Details

Secure your spot early—registration opens on November 1st, and spots fill up fast!

  • General Registration: $35 per person
  • Day-of Registration: $45 per person

Children under 12 run for free!

With your 5k registration, you’ll receive:

  • Entry to the 5K race
  • A limited-edition event t-shirt
  • Drink tickets
  • An exclusive swag bag filled with goodies

 

Plunging only? No ticket is required! Just bring your bravery and a sense of adventure.

This annual tradition is more than just a run and a plunge—it’s a celebration of community and courage, and starting the year off with a bold, fun-filled splash. We can’t wait to see you there!
