Exciting News: Blue Hole Nature Center Receives $3 Million in Funding!

A Big Step Forward for Conservation and Environmental Education in Wimberley

Great news, Wimberley! The future of environmental education just got a major boost—the Blue Hole Nature Center has been awarded $3 million in funding from the Hays County Parks and Open Space Bond!

This funding will help bring a state-of-the-art nature center to life, offering a space where kids, families, and nature lovers can connect with the environment, learn about conservation, and experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country in a whole new way.

What is the Blue Hole Nature Center?

Imagine a place where you can see native wildlife up close, explore interactive exhibits, and learn about sustainability and conservation—all while being surrounded by the natural beauty of Blue Hole Regional Park. That’s what we’re building!

  • The Blue Hole Nature Center will be a hub for environmental education and community engagement, offering:
Hands-on exhibits showcasing the ecosystems and wildlife of Hays County.
  • Indoor and outdoor learning spaces for schools, camps, and community programs.
  • A one-water (net-zero water) design, making it a model for sustainability.
  • Prairie and wetland restoration areas for interactive environmental education.
  • An adventure play area for kids who’ve outgrown traditional playgrounds.

Shaped by the Community—We Want Your Input!

The current concept plan is just a draft, and we want to hear from YOU! As we move forward with planning and development, we’ll be hosting public input meetings to gather ideas and feedback. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, education, or just love exploring nature, your voice matters in shaping this exciting project.

Why This Matters

The Blue Hole Nature Center will be more than just a building—it will be a place to inspire future generations to care for and protect our natural resources. With this funding from Hays County’s Parks and Open Space Bond, we’re ensuring that Wimberley remains a leader in conservation, education, and sustainability.
