City of Wimberley Receives $750,000 TPWD Grant for Blue Hole Nature Center
The City of Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded $750,000 from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department through its Local Parks Non-Urban Outdoor Recreation Grant Program to support outdoor recreation improvements associated with the future Blue Hole Nature Center.
This competitive grant program provides matching funds to Texas communities for the development and improvement of public outdoor recreation facilities. The funding awarded to Wimberley will support outdoor recreation components of the Blue Hole Nature Center project, helping expand access to nature-based recreation and educational opportunities at Blue Hole Regional Park.
The Blue Hole Nature Center is a planned facility intended to enhance visitor experiences and provide opportunities for outdoor learning, recreation, and environmental education. TPWD grant funding is specifically dedicated to outdoor recreation amenities and ensures that project elements remain publicly accessible and dedicated to recreation use in perpetuity.
The award reflects TPWD’s ongoing commitment to supporting outdoor recreation across Texas communities and recognizes the role local parks play in quality of life, conservation, and public access to nature.
Additional project updates will be shared as planning and development for the Blue Hole Nature Center continues.

Erica Flocke, Parks and Recreation Director, thanks the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for their consideration.
