October in the Park!
The signs of fall in Central Texas are subtle but clear: the mornings are cooler, the evenings arrive earlier, and the skies seem fuller, alive with migrating birds, drifting butterflies, and longer nights of star-filled skies overhead.
This month, Wimberley’s parks truly shine after dark. Whether you are looking for a spooky thrill, a family tradition, or an evening under the stars, there is something waiting once the sun goes down:
-
Star Party – Enjoy guided stargazing and telescope views.
-
Howl at the Moon Dance Party – Dance the night away beneath the stars.
-
Haunted Trail – Brave the woods as the trails come alive with spooky surprises.
-
Boo!Hole Halloween – A community favorite full of costumes, candy, and fall fun.
On September 18, 2025, Wimberley City Council proclaimed October as Hill Country Night Sky Month. It is a timely reminder of how special our skies are, and why protecting them matters for wildlife, for community well-being, and for future generations who deserve to see the stars as clearly as we do now.
Of course, you do not need an event to enjoy this season. Take an early morning walk with binoculars to catch migrating warblers, or simply pause to listen as the evenings grow quieter and cooler.
Looking ahead to November: Our community Kickball League is kicking off soon! It’s a great way to make new friends, enjoy the cooler weather, and keep the fun going in the park after October’s festivities have wrapped up. Registration is open now, so gather your crew (or sign up solo) and join the team spirit.
October is fleeting, but it is rich with reasons to step outside after dark. From the laughter of a Halloween crowd to the hush of the night sky, Wimberley’s parks are the place to soak it all in.
